Reading will always be my first love, but it was through writing that I was able to feel like I was part of my own world. My writing journey started as early as 11 years old, carefully selecting the nicest notebook I could afford and filling them by hand with fanfiction, way before I even knew the term for it. It was my one solace, untouched by algorithms and the internet.In high school, I was introduced to the digital world. I found gems in the form of webcomics, anime, and fanfiction. Yes, algorithms are frustrating. At the same time, the internet has made it possible for millions and billions of people to connect with each other, especially through various art forms.Now, more than a decade later, I'm creating both fanwork and original stories. I also ended up as an artist, so unexpectedly! Is it easy? Not at all! It's exhausting! Hundreds of times I thought about quitting, but the stories kept my mind occupied. They beg to be heard, to be seen. It doesn't matter if I have one reader (myself). I will keep creating stories in hopes that they may help someone survive another day, just like many other stories had done and continue to do for me.Being an artist and writer in this day and age has become its own way of revolting against technocapitalism. Every day, we have to prove that we're human. It's sickening. There's nothing noble about it, not for me, at least. From the beginning, making characters and worlds are like breathing and eating—I simply do it to stay alive.
